Coming in March
About Michael Morpurgo
Michael has to be one of the most prolific figures in British children’s literature of all time. This award-winning children's author has written over 100 books! Most notably he is highly respected and recognized; not only was he the third person to become Children's Laureate and held the title from 2003-2005, but he also was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) on 17 June 2006 for services to literature.
Here at AdventureBox we especially love Michael not only for his amazing contribution to children’s literature over the years, but also because of his fantastic charity work. Michael and his wife Clare founded Farms For City Children in 1976, and since then they have done great work; children learn where their food comes from, as well as the importance of caring for the land and animals.
Michael's feature for Adventurebox
At last the wait is over and this months AdventureBox featuring Michael is finally here! We just love Sam’s Duck, the story Michael has written. In this lovely story, Sam is a young boy from London who goes with on a school trip to a farm. He is having a really amazing time until he meets a very nasty and horrid little man who is cruel to animals... As you will see from the wonderful charity work Michael does, the subject of cruelty to animals is one that is very close to the author’s heart. That’s why we have chosen to focus our competition on this subject too!
